Capricorn Season: 22 December - 21 January
In the north, energies are descending further into rest, contemplation, introspection and stillness. Now is the moment to tie loose ends and find closure to create space for the new. We reflect on the year behind us and contemplate the year ahead of us. Where are you devoting your energy towards, asks Capricorn?
With Winter Solstice on 21 December, equally ushering in the new astrological sign of Capricorn, we are reminded of what truly grounds us. As from this moment, the light will slowly return, even if it goes unnoticed for the next few months until spring. With it, we must trust. Trust that the light will return, that our energies will rise again. However, for now, into the dark days and nights we journey, with trust that from the darkness, we will be reborn again.
Capricorn is highly aware of responsibility, rules and duty. It craves fulfillment in its work. It asks how can I be utilized? What do I desire to do with my everyday life? Capricorn is very much concerned about its legacy and what it’s leaving behind. As an earth sign it reminds us about our higher purpose and life's work. The mountain goat that steadily climbs up to the mountain top. It knows where it is going, it has a plan, it takes one step after another until it reaches the peak.
Oftentimes, Capricorn appears to an old soul and wiser than their years, even an authority of some sort. There is a touch of seriousness that they naturally exude. Hard-working, traditional and devoted are ways to describe a typical Capricorn. However, this need to work hard may stem from a place of feelings of unworthiness. Therefore, it is important for a Capricorn to meditate on the reason behind their hard-working nature.
The ruling planet, Saturn, gives Capricorn its serious and sometimes cold exterior. Saturn governs over rules, regulations, laws, limitations, restrictions, structures, order, responsibility and the paternal lineage. Wherever you have your Saturn in your natal chart is where your Soul made a commitment in this lifetime. Saturn, the keeper of time, is the harsh teacher we need to mature. Which is why the Saturn Return around the age of 30 and 60 can feel especially rough, yet full of growth and can define the next 30 years of your life.
The tenth house is associated with the sign of Capricorn. Themes related to this house are reputation, career, legacy, public figure, success, potential and the paternal lineage. It is above the horizon and therefore in the public eye. This is the house that represents what you will be known for and usually where the MC, Midheaven is located in the astrological chart.
Capricorn is one of the cardinal signs, alongside Aries, Cancer and Libra. They sit on the crosses of the equinoxes and solstices initiating us into a new season. Leaders and initiators at core, they each lead in their area of life. Capricorn leads us in work life, it's the polar opposite of Cancer, the leader of home life. The equinoxes bring in equilibrium and balance, whereas the solstices are known as the days where the sun stands still.
Being an Earth and cardinal sign makes it a natural leader in the earthly realms. Security is desired and needs to be secured for the earth signs. The combination of the cardinal modality and earth element makes it into a figure of authority, governer and enforcer of the rules.
Capricorn rules structure in the body. Bones, knees and anatomy are Capricorn-ruled. Being an earth sign makes it aware of the material and physical world. Foundations, aquring wealth and security are core values. Knees, metaphysically, symbolize stubbornness, a common trait linked to Capricorn.
The Gate of Acceptance is the energy of limitation itself. Gate 60 creates the pressure needed for pure energy to mutate into form. Capricorn, being Saturn-ruled, grows up faster than most and feels the reality of limitation in the physical world. It is therefore conscious of its own capabilities, realistically and understands its own limitations in life. Acceptance for the current state of reality, yet this does not hinder it to continue to work hard, until it achieves that grander reality it knows is in its reach.
